The School of Business, Economics and Public Policy is nationally renowned for its high teaching standards that are delivered in a unique living and learning environment. The school is one of the foremost providers of distance education, assisting in the development of a wide range of business, economics, accounting, leadership and policy qualifications.

The School offers a large range of courses for both internal and external students at undergraduate, postgraduate and research levels. Units are offered during semester one and two, or on a trimester basis for our Graduate School of Business (GSB) courses. Selected units are also offered over the summer vacation.

The School encourages innovative and student-centred learning aided by enthusiastic and expert academic staff. Students get to know and work closely with academics in ways now rare in other Australian universities. Many courses incorporate units offered through the School's subject areas, including:

  • Accounting;
  • Marketing;
  • Management;
  • Human Resource Management;
  • Economics (including Econometrics and Economic History);
  • Agricultural and Resource Economics;
  • Administrative Studies and Leadership;
  • Higher Educational Management and Policy; and
  • School Leadership.

    The School has one of the highest proportion of Higher Degree Research Students and International students of all the schools within the University.

    The GSB, housed within our School, provides programs which are accredited with the Australian Human Resource Institute (AHRI), Certified Practising Accountants Australia (CPA) and the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia (ICAA). We are also affiliated with UNE Partnerships, the business arm of the University of New England.

    UNE is proud to be consistently ranked best in class in terms of student satisfaction.This is, in part, a reflection of our dedicated and enthusiastic staff whose commitment to learning, teaching and producing high quality research gives. Two research centres located within the School are:

  • Centre for Higher Education Management and Policy (CHEMP), and the
  • Centre for Local Government.
