ID Cards

Your Student ID Card displays your photo and your student number. It is proof of your enrolment.

You must have it to:

  • Borrow books from the University's libraries
  • After hours access to computing labs including the IT Building
  • Sit for an examination (without photo ID you cannot sit for your exams )
  • Photocopying & Printing 
  • Access to College Facilities

Student ID Cards can be obtained either in person from Safety and Security or by mail. Applications for a Student Identification Card cannot be made by Email or Facsimile.

To obtain your card in person:

  • Complete the student ID card form
  • Bring the completed application form, original passport photo and 100 points of identification to the Safety and Security Office 
  • Cards can be collected 48 hours from the date of submission from the Safety and Security Office if enrolment is complete.

To obtain your card by mail:

  • You will receive an application for a Student ID Card with your enrolment package or you can request a copy by going to www.une.edu.au/askune
  • Complete the application form and attach an *original passport photo and *100 points of identification and send to:

New Students

New students are required to apply for a Student Identification Card. Applications can be downloaded by clicking on Student Identification Card

An *original passport photo and *100 points of identification must accompany the application form when forwarded to the Safety and Security Office. Students who do not provide an *original passport photo or *100 points of identification will have their forms returned requesting that the correct information be provided before an ID Card can be issued.

New cards are dispatched once enrolment is complete/confirmed for the currently enrolled semester.

Resuming or Continuing Students

Your current ID card expires on the 31 March of each Academic Year. Update stickers are automatically dispatched to Resuming and Continuing Students to extend the life of the Student ID Card prior to the commencement of the enrolled semester.


If you are not sent a sticker prior to the commencement of the enrolled semester, eg: semester 1, please go to www.une.edu.au/contact-us  with your student number, full name, address and contact details and an update sticker will be issued to you.

Replacement of Lost or Damaged Cards

Students are provided with one Student ID Card during the course of their degree free of charge.

The Replacement ID Card Application can only be accessed by “Enrolled” students at UNE who have access to the Student Portal.  This application allows students to apply for a Replacement Student ID Card via a secure web site using a credit card.

If you are experiencing difficulties accessing the application on myUNE please contact the IT Helpdesk on (02) 6773 5000 or email servicedesk@une.edu.au


If you are unable to use the on-line application to obtain a Replacement Student ID Card, please forward a request in writing with an *original passport photo, *100 points of identification and a cheque/money order for $10.00 made payable to the University of New England to:

A replacement fee of *$10.00 will apply.

New On-Campus (Internal) Students and Residential Schools Attendance

It is essential for “ON CAMPUS” students and “OFF CAMPUS” (External/Distance) students attending Residential Schools to obtain a Student ID Card.

Applications must be received three weeks prior to arrival on campus. If a Student ID Card is not obtained, prior to arrival on campus, access to UNE facilities may not be obtained, this includes Colleges, Library Services and Computer Labs.

Applications received during residential schools are subject to delay.

Staff ID Cards

To obtain a Staff ID Card complete the Staff ID Card form & submit it Safety & Security. Please refer to the back of the form for further details.

If you require after hours access to a building, please have your supervisor email security@une.edu.au with your name, staff number and what access you require so that swipe card access can be placed on your card.

If you are a currently employed on a Contract at the University of New England your card will expire on the date that your contract ends. If your Contract of employment is extended your Supervisor/Manager is required to email security@une.edu.au to ensure your continued access to buildings.
