Online Learning Clinics

Duration: 12 noon to 1.30pm
Venue: IT Staff Training Room on Level 2 of the IT Building
Cost: included in individual course fees
Purpose: To assist staff with all online learning courses ODU has scheduled a number of Online Course Clinics throughout 2008. All staff enrolled in an online course can attend a clinic at which there will be a member of ODU staff to provide coaching and to answer any questions you may have. You MUST let us know if you wish to attend one of these clinics.
Access 2003 Foundation, Intermediate and Advanced
Duration: You are advised to allocate no longer than 3 months to complete each level

Microsoft Access 2003 is a professional database program for managing and processing large amounts of information or data. Chemwatch
Duration: You are advised to allocate no longer than 3 months to complete the course
Cost: free course
Chemwatch is a web-based software package that UNE uses to help manage the complex task of storing and using chemicals. Chemwatch is now licensed to UNE staff under the tradename Chemgold II. This online unit covers the use of Chemgold for essential safety and handling information on listed chemical substances.
The course is free online to UNE staff. Register for the course by completing and sending a registration form to Organisational Development, fax 2755 or by internal mail. As soon as this is processed we will contact you to advise that your course is now available through UNE Online.
Excel 2003 Foundation, Intermediate and Advanced
Duration: You are advised to allocate no longer than 3 months to complete each level.
Cost: $45 each level (includes access to Online Course Clinics) – note online Foundation level is free
Microsoft Excel 2003 is a professional spreadsheet program which allows you to analyse and present large amounts of data in a wide range of formats. International Computing Drivers Licence (ICDL)
Duration: You are advised to allocate no longer than 2 months to complete each module.
Cost: N/A unless you wish to receive accreditation and a certificate for which there is a $100 administration and accreditation fee
The ICDL is a standard of general computer competence that is now recognised in over 140 countries. The course covers seven areas of basic, intermediate and advanced IT skills, including word-processing, spreadsheets, databases, presentations, internet and email.

Microsoft e-Learning Library (MELL)
Duration: Unlimited access for a 12 month period.
Cost: $120 for the complete Microsoft e-Learning Library per enrolment
The Microsoft e-Learning Library or MELL is a series of interactive online training presentations for the core Microsoft Office suite of products, i.e. Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook. The interactive mode of presentation makes for an interesting learning experience at the foundation to intermediate levels.

Outlook 2003 Foundation, Intermediate and Advanced
Duration: You are advised to allocate no longer than 3 months to complete each level.
Cost: $45 each level (includes access to Online Course Clinics) – note online Foundation level is free
Outlook 2003 is a professional email program which also performs a wide range of "organiser" functions such as a diary, task scheduler and address book.

PowerPoint 2003 Foundation, Intermediate and Advanced

PowerPoint 2003 is a presentation slide show program which can also be used to create posters and online multimedia presentations.

Publisher 2003 is a template-based desktop publishing program that can be used to quickly create dynamic and impressive flyers, documents, business cards etc.
