Lecturer in Higher Education

The Teaching and Learning Centre supports the University’s full range of teaching activities and provides academic skills support for students. The Centre is responsible for providing support for academic program renewal, academic staff development programs, including the Graduate Certificate in Tertiary Education, evaluation and review services, academic leadership in the development of flexible approaches to teaching and learning, academic skills support for students, and teaching of Foundation programs in learning literacies and skills. The Centre also manages the University’s digital learning environment, provides instructional design and educational development support, and manages copyright on behalf of the University.

The Lecturer in Higher Education will be a member of the Academic Unit within the Teaching and Learning Centre. S/He will be responsible for coordinating and teaching into the Graduate Certificate in Tertiary Education, initiating and coordinating academic development activities, conducting research related to teaching and learning in higher education, providing advice and support to academic staff in their teaching and preparation of learning materials, and providing advice on policy in teaching and learning.

Applicants must have, or be nearing completion of, a doctoral qualification, preferably with postgraduate studies in an education-related field, demonstrated ability as a teacher at the university level with particular preference given to experience in a distance education environment, demonstrated ability to undertake education action research, demonstrated knowledge of issues related to university teaching and learning, excellent communication skills and ability to work as part of a team, and experience in managing teams and projects.
