Faculty of the Professions

Introduction

This page explains how you can study management at UNE. Management is taught as a major in the Bachelor of Business degree.  Studying management in the Bachelor of Business will prepare you for a wide variety of possible roles in business, in both the public and the private sector.  If you want to learn how to manage a business efficiently and effectively, with appropriate attention to both human and financial resources, then this subject is for you.

Why Study Management at UNE?

At UNE, we pride ourselves on teaching management in ways that make your learning more meaningful and applicable to the workplace.  We help you to understand the varied roles of managers in the workplace as well as the wide range of issues associated with resources, both people and financial, the managers have to deal with.  We also help you to think critically about how best to manage businesses in the complex and ever-changing environments they find themselves nowadays.

At UNE, our focus is on developing the kinds of general and strategic thinking, interpersonal, team and change management skills that employers value.  The management skills we teach are transferable across industries, rather than being industry-specific.  Our program reinforces the importance of ethical behaviour in management and highlights the role that modern technology can contribute to management. We even have an option to explore issues surrounding the management of indigenous organisations, something that is highly relevant in modern Australia.

We offer flexible delivery modes for the program, including online support, and have low student/staff ratios, which allow us to offer a more personal experience.  In the business area, we rank highly for student satisfaction.  Our staff are highly qualified and respected and many are active researchers in management and related areas.  They bring their research knowledge into the classroom to maximise your learning benefit.

If you have studied Management in our Bachelor of Business, the prospects for a career after you graduate are quite varied and exciting.  A management background prepares you to undertake any type of job that has a management career trajectory.  Management embodies a collection of skills that are useful in any type of business, whether it be a small family business to a large corporation.  Studying management at UNE can provide you with a competitive edge for career advancement.
