Study Psychology at UNE

Introduction

On this page you will find information about studying Psychology at UNE. There is a choice of programs to suit students commencing and/or continuing their study in Psychology that lead to diverse career options including registered psychologist and clinical psychologist. The department of Psychology was established at the time the University was founded in 1938, making it the third oldest Department of Psychology in Australia. Psychology has about 16 academic staff, several general staff (i.e., administrative and technical) and several research associates.

Why Study Psychology at UNE?

Psychology covers all areas related to human and animal behaviour and the factors that may affect behaviour. Students study psychology to gain entry into diverse careers where they might: promote healthy behaviours, solve personal and institutional problems, prevent accidents, design education material, and research some aspects of behaviour; see also What is Psychology.

The Discipline of Psychology at UNE ranks among the best in Australia. Recent national surveys have ranked UNE seventh in the nation for teaching excellence and eleventh for research productivity. The School of Psychology shares that good reputation. Two elements contribute to educational quality in Psychology at UNE. The teaching staff are highly qualified, and class sizes are small. Accreditation

Facilities

Psychology has a well equipped Cognitive and Affective Neurosicience Laboratory focusing on a number of projects involving honours and postgraduate students. We also have a number of other laboratories with staff involved in a large array of research projects as shown by their areas of interest.
