2007-2008 Teaching Development Grants

The Vice-Chancellor has allocated $100,000 to finance the UNE Teaching Development Grants Scheme in 2007. The objective of the scheme is to support the achievement of the University’s strategic objectives in teaching and learning, and in particular to:
- encourage and foster innovation in teaching, learning and assessment;
- improve teaching and learning through innovative projects with practical outcomes;
- promote scholarly teaching;
- maximise the wider implementation of use of products or practices already developed; and
- enhance the status of teaching.
Eligible Projects
The 2007 round of grants will support two categories of project:
A. Areas of strategic need (funding for several small grants no greater than 10k)
- Communicating with students
- Effective eLearning designs
- Efficient web-based assessment implementation
- Innovation investigations
- Improving student feedback
B. eLearning Fellowships (10 fellowships @3k each)
The eLearning Fellowship is a new initiative designed to provide opportunities for academic staff to undertake:
- structured professional development activities with other eFellowship awardees
- form the eLearning Fellowship community of practice
- to develop a unit within their school/discipline that engages with appropriate eLearning practices
- be identified as the “champion” within the school/discipline in undertaking a review of eLearning/online learning and identifying and developing case studies of good practice
- identifying professional development needs across a school/discipline, making recommendations for implementation and coordinating sessions
Applications should be no longer than three A4 pages for projects requesting up to $5,000 and no longer than five pages for larger projects seeking up to $10,000. eLearning Fellowship should be no longer than 3 pages. These must reach Peter Mathew (ext 3628 pmathew@une.edu.au) in the Teaching and Learning Centre by 4.00 pm on Monday 17th September, 2007.
